Meet the Vose Family

Jennie and Ryan Vose met in college in Cincinnati, moved to Chicago for a few years, and then decided to move back to Cincinnati when they were expecting their first child. They wanted to raise their family in Madeira and knew the Oyler Hines Group could help find the right home in this fast paced market.

THEN: Jennie and Ryan's story began at the University of Cincinnati, (Go Bearcats!) where they met while attending college. After moving to Chicago for a few years, they returned back to Cincinnati before their first child was born.

NOW: Jennie, a busy stay-at-home mom, and Ryan, who works for Ethicon, along with their two adorable children, recently settled into their home in Madeira. They spend family time in their beautiful backyard complete with a fun new swing set and going for walks around their neighborhood. They love taking advantage of all the great things Madeira has to offer, like the library, coffee shops, and fun parks!

Why Oyler Hines?

"We used the Oyler Hines Group to sell our first house and buy our house when we moved back from Chicago, so choosing them for this move was a no-brainer. Homes sell quickly in Madeira and we had some very specific criteria. With the Oyler Hines Group’s involvement in the community, we knew they would be able to help us find the right home for this stage of our lives."

What surprised you most about the buying and selling process?

"We found a home we wanted to purchase, but it didn’t work out initially. We were really surprised when the seller came back a few weeks later to see if we were still interested (we were!).

We were also really surprised by how quickly our home sold. There aren’t a lot of homes for sale, so our home was under contract after the first weekend on the market, with multiple offers, well above asking price!"

What made you move?

"We moved back to Cincinnati just before our son was born and purchased a small home. When our daughter was born, we needed more space. We knew we wanted to live in Madeira. Jennie grew up in Madeira (and her parents still live here) and we just love the community."

Most challenging part of buying and selling at the same time?

"It’s a little scary to put an offer on a new home before selling your current home. The Oyler Hines Group has excellent marketing and I think that helped drive so many showings the first weekend our home was on the market. There’s also a lot to do when you’re moving - especially when you have little kids. The Oyler Hines Group takes care of all of the details so we could focus on packing, painting the kids’ new rooms, and making sure the transition went smoothly for our family."

Best part about your buying and selling experience?

"The best part was selling our home so quickly and for more than our asking price. The Oyler Hines Group also makes the process so seamless. After you have a contract, there is a whole team of people to make sure everything is on track for closing. We were able to focus on packing and getting the new house ready, while the Oyler Hines Group took care of all the paperwork and logistics to get us to closing on time."

Your top tip for others buying and selling at the same time?

"Take your time. Find the house that meets your family’s needs. Make sure your house is ready to put on the market so you can get top dollar. We didn’t expect to find our new home so quickly and our existing home wasn’t ready to go on the market. I was nervous about waiting, but we took two weeks to make sure everything was the best it could be before listing."
